Fitment Notes
- Sold individually. Two struts are required to support the tailgate (one per side). Most failures occur as a pair, and replacing both at the same time is the standard practice.
- Both left-hand and right-hand sides use the same part number — strut bodies are not side-specific.
- Fitment covers Hyundai i10 first generation (chassis code PA) only. Does not fit i10 BA/IA (2013-2019) or AC3 (2019 onwards).
Installation & Maintenance Tips
- Replace both struts at the same time. A new strut paired with a tired one will work harder, fail sooner, and the tailgate will droop unevenly when partially raised.
- Have the tailgate supported before removing the old struts. The tailgate will fall under its own weight once both are disconnected.
- Note the orientation of the old strut before removal: the cylinder body is typically fitted upward, the rod end downward, to retain oil in the seal.
- Pop off the spring clips at each ball stud, then pull the strut socket off the ball. New struts press onto the studs in the same way.
- If the tailgate creeps down or fails to stay open in cold weather first, this is the earliest sign of strut wear.
Common Questions
Do I need one or two?
Two. The price shown is for one strut. Order quantity 2 to replace both sides on the vehicle.
Are left and right different?
No. The same part fits both sides of the i10 PA tailgate.
Will this fit my newer i10?
This part is for the first-generation i10 (PA, 2007-2018 production run on the listed engines). It does not fit the second-generation i10 (BA/IA, 2013-2019) or the third-generation (AC3, 2019 onward). Verify your generation by VIN before ordering.
How long should new struts last?
Typical service life is 5-8 years depending on climate and usage frequency. Cold weather and frequent boot use both shorten life.
